FinePoint: Plug us in: Who are you? What do you do?
Hannah: I’m Hannah Orenstein. I’m a matchmaker at the dating start-up Tawkify, a freelancer writer (for Thought Catalog, xoJane, Mashable, and more), and the co-founder of The HBIC Project, an interview series highlighting the accomplishments of incredible twenty-something women.
FinePoint: What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever given and/or received?
Hannah: One of my favorite pieces of advice comes from my friend Elyssa Goodman, a fantastic writer and photographer. “Instead of making my work my life, I’ve made my life my work.” In other words, if you’re going to throw yourself into your job, make sure it’s something you love and would do even if it didn’t pay. She’s a wise one.
FinePoint: What do you eat for breakfast?
Hannah: Coffee and an everything bagel toasted with peanut butter.
FinePoint: Where do you find you get your best work done?
Hannah: I like to work in coffee shops. The Bean (Broadway & 12th Street in New York) is my favorite!
FinePoint: Send us a desk “selfie!”
Hannah: I work mostly from home, so my desk has lots of personal items. I think it’s important to surround your work space with things you love, so right now, I’m working alongside an Eiffel Tower trinket (I just came back from living in Paris) and an original JFK campaign button (because he’s charming). My Moleskines and magazines motivate me to write, and my red accessories (#powercolor) give me energy.
